Some staff from the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) are currently participating in a seminar on Tax Administration and Digitalization for African Countries, SCO Member Countries, and Arab Countries, taking place in China.
The two-week training seminar is organized by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of the People’s Republic of China. The seminar forms part of China's broader initiative to enhance communication and cooperation with developing countries, promoting mutual development and prosperity.
This timely seminar aims to foster international dialogue, share China’s experience in tax modernization, and explore collaborative opportunities to leverage digital tools for improved revenue mobilization and governance innovation. Tax digitalization has emerged as a key driver in enhancing tax collection efficiency, curbing tax evasion, and creating an enabling environment for domestic resource mobilization.
The seminar’s objectives align closely with the recently launched GRA Corporate Strategic Plan (2025–2029), which places a strong emphasis on digitalization as a means to strengthen domestic revenue collection.
The seminar incorporates a mix of policy discussions, corporate case studies, on-site learning, and cultural exchanges, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to drive transformative tax reforms.
